After the working in collaboration module, I wanted to experiment more with film. I thought it would be interesting to use my own body as a canvas so I asked Heba to help me create flower patterns on my skin using acrylic paints.
Initially, I wanted to make a film but after discussing with Heba and getting her opinion as well, I decided to make a stop-motion film using photographs of the process. We started off painting the hand and ended on the face.
The concept behind the video, despite it being abstract, has a deeper, more psychological meaning. Lately, I have been been feeling frustrated and isolated from everyone and everything. I am an indepentant person applying limits to my life, hence for the title "Flower Tumor". The flowers resemble the problems that we face in our life, but these problems are sometimes good because they help us become stronger people.
